During the first day participants from regional partners of the Projects from Sweden, Finland, Poland and Norway got familiarized with industrial symbiosis idea and the results achieved in Kalundborg: CO2 emission was lowered by 635 thousand tons and economic impact reached 24 million euros.
During the second day there were visits to the sites of industrial symbiotic chains members in Kalundborg: Kalundborg Utilities that provides people with water and wastewater disposal and Gyproc factory producing gypsum blocks. Within the visit participants discovered industrial processes of the companies and found new practices of local and regional businesses cooperation.
At the third day project partners visited Næstved city where a governmental organization Resource Center that develops circular economy ideas, supports the idea of cooperation of glass proceeding company Reiling Glasrecycling Denmark and glass bottle producers Ardagh Group. Within the cooperation a recycled glass is used as a source for the new one.
At the end of the program Symbiosis Center Denmark told more about methods and tools used to discover new possibilities of local and regional business cooperation and shared some cases of industrial symbiotic chains in other countries.
